何远鸣,著名旅美画家,四川广元人。

What is the spirit of the horse?  It is freedom.   The horse is many people’s favorite animal, so as the innocence of childhood.   Recently, the horse paintings appear like Mr. Gu’s from Beijing and Mr. Zhao’s from Hebei province.  Art is infinite from Xu Peihong, Huang Zhou to Han MeiLin from the horse treading the Hsiungnu, Zhaoling six steeds to Chinese blood precious colt king.  Today’s denial of yesterday, tomorrow’s denial of today.  Denials and denials, seeking and create ideal painting style- It not only discards three thousands, but eight thousands pieces.
For many years I often get up to do painting around two or three o’ clock.  I like to work on four feet, or six feet all open paper with bold and unconstrained expression.  Sometimes paintings are made by plates, fingers, or at fingertips doodle. – These paintings seem so, but not.  The mane and tail is done by one brush or mainly made up of one brush.  This is the most characteristic feature of a horse, and it can display the Chinese brush painting to the extremes to become the highlight of the painting.  We rely on one brush or mainly on one brush, start steady and jolly.  The tendency of the stroke is definite and affirmative without ambiguous.  The painting is resounding, clear and bright, intensive rhythmic with robust, simple and big lines of different hues. When the football is kicked out from the tip of the toe seen on TV, one highlight becomes a robust parabola flying to the distant place. This parabola line has the strength to break the heaven.   I am thinking that my “Gallop” paintings should use this type of line, many lines like this, and this kind of imposing manner. I am thinking from the football – the parabola – the heaven horse to the “Gallop” pictures.   Why cannot we develop the traditional Chinese brush and ink painting richer?
Day and night, full of twists and turns, finally some paintings with new appearance have made progress. The inspiration is the reward of tenacious work.  Sweat – meticulousness – worry – joy.
I like to develop the original brush stroke heartily, with continuous work, more effective results happen accidentally. With all of my strength and affirmative brush strokes, I adapt myself to changes while knowing when to stop.  The brush and ink express my wish from my heart, and become a big abstract horse.  The elegant demeanor and heroic bearing of the horse is there.
The painting has bright color, splendid brushwork with incisive feeling.  It combines both modern and traditional Chinese painting styles.  Under the leading of impressionistic manner, the natural subject becomes the impressionistic symbol by extraction of the form and meaning. It has sublimation through the processes.  It has freedom, bold and heroic.  I am a horse.
I value the spirit of the impressionistic manner; emphasize the simplicity of brushwork, the essences of ink, the implication expression of brush sentiment and ink rhyme; performance the unlimited emotions with limited image.  I am trying to capture the big feeling, express the big impression, assure the big tone, and develop the ideal condition of broad and profound, hazy changes, brilliant color with ink.  At the same time, I borrow the abundant color and techniques of the West into Chinese painting to build a language of art and form, a modern impressionistic expression through splash ink, strokes and drawing. In foundation of realistic style, through the collision, melting and merging each other between different colors, a new breath of style of color and ink appears within gorgeous and deep moist.  It not only brims with universe fresh air, but also fills the fervor of life.
God gives me a chance.   I learn to start over again from the denial of yesterday. But my time is so limited.  In fact, denial happens every day.  However I am also lucky – I have created a style which I like, and different from other artists’.  Distinct individual style comes from long term thinking and exploring advertently or inadvertently as God create a distinctive me.  
I think the factors of my today’s art style are: Children painting – naïve, Folk Lunar New Year’s painting – humanity, rock painting, paper cut – robust, and root carving handicraft – vivid. The aesthetic standard and savoring of the artist himself maybe are the basic.  I believe that gallop horse painting series should have both impressionistic and abstract athletics senses. The “Galloping Horse” is fresh air, a potential, vigor, one kind of emotion, and one kind of mood.  The payout of the impressionistic image of life is the whole life.
New time summons new art.  It is a wonderful heaven shore horse.  Is this East or West?  It is not east, neither West.  But it is a good thing of either East or West.  “Galloping Horse” – is achieving immediate success.
